Mezzo Poodles
Perfectly In Between.
Running Luke’s Lodge and Dog Training has given us a front-row seat to what makes a great dog. After years of working with numerous breeds and mixes, one thing became clear: genetics matter - a lot. Good training helps, but it can’t override poor breeding when it comes to temperament, drive, and health.
Through that work, we zeroed in on our ideal: a poodle that falls between the traditional sizes. We aim for dogs between 20 and 35 pounds - big enough to join you on the trail, small enough to live comfortably in the city. This size, paired with careful, health-focused breeding, produces dogs with the balance of energy, stability, and biddability we look for.
We breed for companions who can keep up on a Saturday hike, lounge calmly on Sunday, and adapt to whatever Monday throws at you. Dogs built for real life.
Our Story
Why Size Matters
20-35 pounds works for most homes. Easy to life, sturdy enough for active play.
Less wear on joints than oversized frames.
Easier travel: fit in most vehicles and standard crates.
Plenty of stamina for adventure, but not a full-time job to exercise.
Manageable for kids and adults alike.
